After I'd bought new Adaptive Tactical EX Performance furniture for my Mossberg 500A General Purpose Model, I discovered that the forestock wouldn't work. Turns out that since 2002, this Model 500 version has shared the Maverick 88's forearm assembly, which lacks the action slide tube and ring nut of the wood-furniture and synthetic-furniture versions with the ribbed (not checkered) forestock. Instead, the action slide bars are permanently blind-pinned directly to the forestock. So, if you want to install new furniture on your Maverick 88 or a Model 500 variant with its same forearm assembly, you'll need this 6 3/4" Action Slide Nut along with the mating 6 3/4" Action Slide Tube. These are high quality, genuine Mossberg OEM parts and not a cheap knockoff. Midwest Gun Works matched Mossberg's prices, which were the best of anywhere I'd looked, and beat Mossberg's stated shipment lead time.
