This trigger stop screw looks fine in reality. It has a nice smooth finish – unlike in the photo above. The trigger stop screw is a must-have on any HK SA/DA pistol. It eliminates the shake of your pistol that happens when the trigger disengages the sear and jerks rearward that last fraction of an inch, allowing you to be much more accurate. Installing this part is equally as important as upgrading your springs. This screw can be installed in any of the HK polymer triggers. You will need the following: • Drill Press • Drill Press Vise • Small Block of Wood (and a way to cut it squarely to size) • #40 / .098" Drill Bit • Metric Tap, 3.0 x 0.50 • Tap Wrench (capable of holding 1/8" taps) • 1.5mm Allen Key Cut a small block of wood slightly narrower than the trigger to place beneath the trigger in the vise. The top of the block of wood should be about 1/4" below the top of the vise jaws. Set the rear of the plastic portion of the trigger on top of the block of wood with the metal parts of the trigger (the bar with the trigger pin holes) resting on top of the vise jaws; the concave side of the trigger should be facing upwards. Tighten the vise jaws onto the trigger with moderate pressure. Center the trigger beneath the drill bit; it should be centered both widthwise and lengthwise, measuring from beneath the steel bar at the top of the trigger. You may want to use a smaller drill bit to make a pilot hole first. Then drill the hole using the #40 bit. Tap the threads from front to back, and do not tap the entire way through the trigger. Leave about one thread's worth of the hole untapped to prevent excessive wobble of the screw (like the way a nylon-insert lock nut works). Thread your stop screw into the hole from front to back first, then remove it and rethread it through the hole the proper way - from back to front. That way you will still have properly-aligned threads all the way through the hole, but the threads at the rear of the hole will be tighter than the rest. Now you're ready to (re)install your trigger in your pistol. Once (re)installed, set the stop screw for as little over-travel as possible using blue Loctite. Ensure that your pistol will fire on both single action and double action. Once zero over-travel has been established, turn the screw back into the trigger about half a turn and allow the Loctite to cure before carrying/shooting. That's it! No need to spend $25 to $50 per trigger for somebody else's work. Upgrade all your HK triggers yourself for a minimal investment!
