The production of the Gold semi-automatic shotgun began in 1993. The Gold 10ga. is the only Gold Gun still in production.

Historic Information Serial Number Info
1993-1997

In 1976 Browning standardized its serial number identification which it followed until 1998. The Gold 10ga. went into production in 1993. This gun is produced in Japan and uses the following serial number configuration until 1998.

  1. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.
  2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code:
    Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0
  3. Gold 10 ga. Type: R91=Gold 10 ga

Gold 10 ga. Serial Number Example:

01001NX191

This would be a Gold 10 ga., manufactured in 1993 with the serial number 01001.

1994-1997

The Gold family of 12 and 20 ga. shotguns was introduced in 1994. They are produced in Belgium and used the following serial number configuration until 1998.

  1. Gold Type:
    F51=Gold 12 ga. Hunter
    FT1= Gold 12 ga. Sporting Clays
    F61=Gold 20 ga. Hunter
  2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code:
    Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0
  3. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.

Gold 12 & 20 ga. Serial Number Example:

F51NW01001

This would be a Gold 12 ga. Hunter, manufactured in 1994 with the serial number 01001.

1998

In 1998 Browning redid the standardization of its serial number identifications to work with its new data base program, Oracle. This is followed to the present day. With the Gold 10 ga. being manufactured in Japan, its serial number configuration is:

  1. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.
  2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code:
    Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0
  3. Gold 10 ga. Type: 112=Hunter and Stalker

Gold 10 ga. Serial Number Example:

01001NP112

This would be a Gold Hunter or Stalker, manufactured in 1998 with the serial number 01001.

1998

The item I purchased did not fit my Browning Gold Fusion 20 gauge shotgun...it was too big unfortunately. I can't find the right plug for this gun. This is not your fault and I do not expect a refund....just wish I could find the right plug.
