Description: Gre-Tan Remington Model Seven Lite Firing Pin and Spring. Featuring a lightweight aluminum firing pin with a quality chrome silica steel spring, this combo from Gre-Tan Rifles is designed to fit Remington Model Seven rifles chambered in all standard calibers like .260 Rem, .300 Blackout, .223 Rem, 7mm-08 Rem, .308 Win and others. This aftermarket lite firing pin is constructed from a strong steel tip paired with a lightweight aluminum body. This spring/pin combo also fits Remington XP-100, XR-100 and Mohawk 600 rifle models. Update your trusted long range Remington rifle with performance-grade components from Gre-Tan Rifles.

This pin, made with 7075-T6 aluminum, is coupled with a shank & preheat treated 4140 Steel tip. This newly designed coupling of the tip and shank will not have an uncontrolled discharge because of the joint failing. Other tip contour designs have a fracture point; this Gre-Tan pin has a radius machined to prevent the tip from breaking off. This is the safest, strongest and most reliable firing pin - also with the fastest lock time - on the market. The shank has the best spring fit and a centering radius at the front collar to center the spring, does not snake, keeping it from rubbing on the inside of the bolt body. The spring has a smaller outside diameter than the front collar. The x-pin hole is chamfered to help in assembly.

Strong spring, but firing pin is shorter

I bought this to replace the firing pin in my Model 7 Remington in the Caliber of .308. So there are differences worth noting, but maybe you can work around them. The replacement spring is a slightly smaller diameter spring than the original, but it's almost 1/2 inch longer so the compression increase when I reassembled the firing pin group was noticeable. The big put off is that the replacement firing pin is 1/4 inch shorter that the original firing pin. However, I don't know if this matters, because the tool I used to compress the spring would not allow me to use the new firing pin, due to it's slightly shorter length. I ran out of thread to compress the firing pin spring enough that I could access the set pin that holds the unit together. So my solution was to use the new, more powerful spring on my old firing pin. So in essence, I paid $28.00 for a spring. However, it's very possible the new, shorter pin might have made no difference, but as I was unable to install it I can't tell you if that's the case. I took pictures of everything to support the review, and it really clears up some of what I'm saying, but there is no place to put the photos on this review page. If you're a DIY gunsmith like me just email me at: [email protected] with the heading, "gunsmithing question-Remington Model 7" and I'll shoot you the photos. Hope this helps.
