Faxon barrel for Browning Hi Power
oberon
Location: Southern Maine, USA
Date: January 7, 2025
This is interesting. There are several Hi Power pistols in the safe, but the Faxon barrel is a fit for only 3 of them. I believe it is a variation in the way the slide bushing is machined and finished into the slide. If the length of the machined area for contact with the muzzle end of the barrel is long, then the barrel will not make the angle necessary to drop into the slide. If it is short enough at that section, then the barrel drops right in.
So, some slides will require gunsmith services to fit, and others will not. The other solution is to find a slide that will fit easily. This is, of course, expected to be encountered occasionally when swapping out precision parts.
The locking lugs engage perfectly, and the threads are in perfect alignment to fit the suppressor. It appears to be a quality part.
